What's Cosmetic & Alloy Protection?

Cosmetic & Alloy Protection is an additional product that covers your car against minor damage to the paintwork and alloy wheels, for the duration of the lease.

It isn't designed to deal with any accidents that would be covered by your motor insurance policy.

What’s included?

Cosmetic bodywork

  • Up to £3,000 worth of cosmetic bodywork treatments, following inspection.
  • SMART technology* which can refurbish scratches or dents that fall within a 30cm diameter on a single panel (including on wing mirrors and bumpers) and stone chips of up to 3mm in diameter and 1.5mm in depth. Please note that stone chips may remain slightly visible even after treatment.
  • You can request an annual inspection of the bonnet, boot and roof / all panels and doors / wing mirror casings / front and rear bumpers.
  • Further inspections if requested of the bonnet, boot and roof / all panels and doors / wing mirror casings / front and rear bumpers during the duration of your programme (the duration is shown on your schedule).

*If the SMART technology can't refurbish your bodywork, there may be a contribution up to £300 (including VAT) towards the cost of a bodyshop repair.

Alloy wheels

  • Up to 10 refurbishments of your alloy wheels at £200 per repair for the duration of your programme.
  • If the alloy is ripped, perforated, torn, cracked or distorted and can't be refurbished, we may pay a contribution of up to £200 (including VAT) per wheel for a replacement(s). You would need to bear the rest of the cost(s) in buying a replacement alloy.
  • All refurbishments are guaranteed for the lifetime of your ownership of the vehicle.
  • Simple and fast inspection and treatment process – see your policy documents for details.
  • You can request an annual inspection of the condition of your alloy wheels (all painted, powder coated, diamond cut, matte finish and powder chrome alloy wheels).
  • Further inspections if requested of the condition of your alloy wheels during your policy.

What are the benefits?

The key benefit is the peace of mind the protection brings, but other compelling reasons to take out this product include:

1. Avoid end-of-lease charges

Finance companies are notoriously strict about "Fair Wear and Tear." Minor scuffs or kerbed alloys that you might ignore on a car you own, can turn into hefty penalty fines when you hand the keys back. This protection ensures the car meets their standards.

2. Reduce downtime

Most repairs take place at your home or work, meaning a technician comes to you. It saves the time, expense and hassle of losing your car to a bodyshop for several days.

3. Maintain new car feel

Since you're paying for a brand-new vehicle, keeping it looking pristine for the full duration you're in possession of it, makes the monthly payment feel more worthwhile.

What are the exclusions?

Not all damage will be covered by Cosmetic & Alloy Protection. The scenarios where the policy wouldn't cover you include:

  • Treatments where previous work was carried out to a poor standard is such that our treatments would be ineffective.
  • Treatments where uncorrected wear and tear or damage has been caused by oxidisation, corrosion, adverse weather conditions, neglect or a defect such that the treatments would be ineffective.
  • Where the bodywork area to be treated in a single flat panel is greater than 30cm.
  • Where the body panel is ripped, perforated or torn or the bumper or wing mirror casings are cracked.
  • Treatments to beading, moulding or unpainted plastic panels; distorted dents which can't be rectified using SMART repair technology.
  • Treatments to accessories, window or door mouldings, lights, wing mirror glass or window panels.
  • Any loss of use of your vehicle or additional costs related to the inspections or the treatments.
  • A courtesy car whilst your vehicle is being attended to.
  • Costs relating to losses normally covered under a comprehensive motor insurance policy or as a result of a road traffic accident, fire or theft.
  • Treatments to chrome-plated alloys, split rim alloy wheel construction, alloys with plastic inserts and rim edges, aftermarket alloys that did not come with the vehicle or any specialist complex design alloys.
  • Vehicles used for hire or reward, commercial use, professional instruction, competition or within a public service capacity.
  • Any vehicle owned by a company or person involved in the vehicle repair or servicing industries, a dealership or by an employee of these companies.
  • Commercial / dual purpose vehicles, vans (including car derived or van-based multi-purpose vehicle) or any vehicle with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tonnes.
  • Vehicles outside of the UK (including the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and the Outer Scottish Islands).

Cosmetic & Alloy Protection FAQs

We work with Warranty Solutions Group Ltd, and they'll be the ones to provide your policy.

The policy you choose dictates how long the Cosmetic & Alloy Protection policy will last. Warranty Solutions Group offer policies of 2, 3 and 4 years to match leases of those lengths but there may be other lengths of policy available on the market.

No, you don’t need to have Cosmetic & Alloy Protection for a lease car.

However, many customers choose to take out a policy for additional peace of mind, to avoid a charge when returning the vehicle at the end of the lease.

The cost of Cosmetic & Alloy Protection will vary depending on the length of cover you want. We offer cover for 2 years at £399, 3 years at £499 and 4 years at £599.

It’s generally recommended you take out a policy that's the same length as your lease agreement so you're covered for the duration of your lease.

To arrange a repair through your Cosmetic & Alloy Protection you must first book an inspection and any agreed work will be arranged once this has taken place.
