MG's IM6 is a new, all-electric SUV designed to compete with premium models like the Tesla Model Y. It's sold under MG's new premium sub-brand, 'IM' (which stands for 'Intelligence in Motion'), and is significantly more advanced than other vehicles in MG's current lineup.

MG was first established in the 1920s and has since been bought out by SAIC Motor UK, whose parent company is a Chinese state-owned automotive giant, but it retains its own distinctively British approach to vehicle design and manufacturing.

The MG IM6 is available in a few trims with specs including the Long Range (Rear-Wheel Drive, 402 bhp, 388 miles WLTP range) and Performance/Launch Edition (All-Wheel Drive, 553kW or 741 bhp, 313 miles WLTP range). Key features across models include a 100kWh battery, intelligent 4-wheel steering, a panoramic glass roof, and a 26.3″ immersive infotainment and driver's display. The IM6 is the larger, SUV counterpart to the IM5 saloon.

Who's the ideal driver for an MG IM6?

As a sleek, high-tech EV saloon that blends a premium aesthetic with mid-market pricing, the IM6 MG is a standout choice for business professionals. Its impressive range, boosted by advanced battery tech, and high-tier efficiency make it a reliable partner for both long-distance motorway hauls and swift city commutes. Beyond the office, its spacious interior and cutting-edge safety tech make it an excellent fit for small families looking for a sophisticated, 4-seater daily vehicle that doesn't compromise on style.

Which cars are similar to an MG IM6 lease?

If you're weighing up your options, the IM6 MG sits in direct competition with the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and the BMW i4. While the BMW offers peak performance at a premium price, the IM6 typically provides comparable power and more standard luxury features for a significantly lower monthly lease cost. It holds its own against the Ioniq 6 in terms of distinctive design, while often undercutting the Tesla on interior material quality. Other alternatives include vehicles in the Polestar range.

Your MG IM6 leasing questions answered

Leasing's becoming an increasingly popular way to get behind the wheel of a brand-new car. You pay a fixed low monthly amount for the duration of the contract, which can include a maintenance package to reduce the running costs. You won't own the car so you don't need to worry about the value of the vehicle depreciating and when it comes to the end of your contract, simply hand it back. It's that easy!

The exact cost of leasing a MG IM6 will vary depending on a few factors. Firstly, the discounts and offers available from MG, dealerships and the lease funders change over time and this will have an impact on the lease prices we obtain for you.

Secondly, the specific model you choose will impact the price. This includes the trim level, any additional options and even the colour if you're opting for a premium paint.

And thirdly, the contract terms you choose will influence the price; so whether you're leasing as an individual or a business (as businesses can claim back the VAT), how long the lease is, whether the lease includes a maintenance package and the mileage allowance. As the cost of the lease is a total cost, if you choose to make a larger initial rental payment this will reduce the monthly rentals.

The MG IM6 has an official WLTP range of up to 388 miles for the Long Range model and 313 miles for the Performance model. Real-world range will vary depending on conditions, with estimates suggesting around 299 miles for the Long Range in mild weather.

Built on MG's advanced 800V platform, the IM6 supports ultra-fast charging at up to 396kW so the 100kWh battery is recharged to 80% in just 17 minutes.
