The upcoming Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, set for its UK debut in summer 2026, represents a complete overhaul that elevates the SUV into a much more premium category than its predecessor. This fourth-generation model moves away from the older rally-inspired architecture in favour of a sophisticated new platform shared with the Nissan X-Trail.
The exterior design is bold and muscular, featuring a modern evolution of the 'Dynamic Shield' front face and a significantly more refined interior cabin.
Rather than the older Design and Exceed trims, the new UK line-up is expected to feature high-specification variants like the 5-seat Diamond and the versatile 7-seat Nativa, the latter of which brings 3-row seating to the Outlander PHEV for the first time in the British market.
At the heart of the 2026 model is a next-generation plug-in hybrid system that pairs a 2.4-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors to produce over 300bhp. This setup offers a substantial leap in performance and efficiency, providing a pure electric driving range that far exceeds the older models, alongside an advanced Super-All Wheel Control system for superior handling in all weather conditions.
The interior is a tech-focused sanctuary, equipped with a large 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a premium infotainment system featuring wireless smartphone integration. As Mitsubishi’s flagship for its UK relaunch, this new Outlander combines high-end luxury with practical family utility, all supported by a competitive long-term warranty package from the brand’s new national distributor.
